JAMBI, bhayaksa.net – The 2026 Jambi Provincial Sports Week (Pra-Porprov) Chess Qualification Tournament officially concluded with a strong commitment to integrity and fair play.
Following a thorough evaluation and official revisions of the match results, the arbiters’ panel announced adjusted individual medal tallies, officially crowning the Jambi City Contingent as Overall Champions.
The decision was made to uphold competitive integrity and eliminate unsportsmanlike practices, locally referred to in the chess community as “catur gajah” (match-fixing).
Usman, representing the Pra-Porprov Jambi arbiters, emphasized that the adjustments were made strictly to ensure fairness and promote the advancement of chess standards in Jambi Province.
Jambi City Dominates Final Standings
Based on the finalized medal standings, the Jambi City Contingent secured the top spot on the leaderboard with two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
Batanghari Regency followed closely in second place with two golds and one silver, while Sarolangun Regency placed third with two golds and one bronze.
Intense competition was also evident in the individual board categories. For Board 1, the arbiters confirmed that there were no changes to the initial results.
Board 2: Ardiansyah (Batanghari Regency) clinched gold, Marzuki (West Tanjung Jabung Regency) took silver, and Hardi Gunawan (Sarolangun Regency) won bronze.
Board 3: Apririyan Hidayat (Sarolangun Regency) captured gold, Herdi Amanda (East Tanjung Jabung Regency) earned silver, and Budiman Lie (Muaro Jambi Regency) claimed bronze.
Board 4: Heri Sofyandi (Batanghari Regency) claimed gold, Ramses Hasibuan (Jambi City) earned silver, and Gusrian (East Tanjung Jabung Regency) secured bronze.
Trophy Presentation, Bonus Appreciation, and Closing Ceremony
A solemn yet warm atmosphere marked the closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon. Following the conclusion of all matches, the Chairman of the Jambi Provincial Chess Association (Pengda Percasi Jambi), Mario Liberty Siregar, personally presented the Overall Champion trophy to the Chairman of Percasi Jambi City, AKBP (Ret.) Yuslizar.
In addition to the trophy, the athletes’ celebration was heightened by bonus incentives provided by the Secretary-General of Percasi Jambi City as a gesture of appreciation for the team’s hard work and dedication throughout the championship.
The event officially concluded with a group photo session featuring board members, Percasi officials, and the athletes who competed across the sixty-four squares.
The arbiters’ firm enforcement of sportsmanship, combined with the Overall Champion title and strong organizational support, provides a solid foundation for Percasi Jambi City as they prepare for the upcoming main Jambi Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) tournament.
