BATAM, bhayaksa.net — A grim discovery shocked residents of the Mustika Complex in Sei Jodoh, Batu Ampar District, Batam City, on Sunday morning, August 30, 2026, after a woman, identified only by her initial L, was found dead in a pool of blood on her fourth-floor rooftop. Law enforcement acted swiftly, tracking down and arresting the prime suspect—the victim’s own live-in maid.

The fatal assault is believed to have taken place during the early morning hours, at approximately 4:00 a.m. local time. The Batu Ampar Police Department received the initial emergency call from local residents a few hours later.

“We received a report from the community at 7:30 a.m. Precinct detectives immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct a preliminary forensic investigation,” said Batu Ampar Police Chief, Commissioner Amru Abdullah, on Sunday.

Crime scene investigators reported that the victim sustained severe, fatal head trauma inflicted by blunt-force objects. Officers recovered several critical pieces of evidence from the rooftop area suspected to have been used in the assault, including shattered flowerpots, a chair, and a bucket.

A coordinated manhunt by the Batu Ampar Criminal Investigation Unit and the Barelang City Police Department’s Jatanras (Major Crimes) Unit led to a breakthrough shortly after. Authorities apprehended the suspect, a woman identified as NH, just three hours after the crime was reported.

Batu Ampar Chief of Detectives, Inspector Eko, noted that the suspect was a recent hire in the household.

“The suspect had only been working for the victim since early August 2026. She resided at the property with the victim during her employment. We are currently conducting intensive interrogations to determine the exact motive behind the attack,” Inspector Eko stated.

The victim’s body has been transported to the Batam Bhayangkara Police Hospital for a comprehensive autopsy and forensic examination. NH remains in police custody as the investigation continues. She faces potential severe charges under the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) related to aggravated assault and homicide.
