MEDAN, bhayaksa.net— A viral video depicting the severe bullying and assault of a minor has sparked widespread public outrage across Medan. The victim, identified as an 11-year-old girl with the initials P, is a sixth-grade elementary school student who fell victim to violence perpetrated by several teenagers.

According to official police data, the incident took place in Gang Satria, Brigjend Katamso Street, Sei Mati Village, Medan Maimun District, Medan. The assault occurred on Tuesday night, September 22, 2026, at approximately 8:00 PM WIB.

The altercation initially stemmed from a verbal dispute between victim P and one of the suspects. The argument escalated into physical violence carried out by several suspects identified as junior high school students. The victim was repeatedly beaten, kicked, and dragged by her hair while the perpetrators filmed the assault on their smartphones.

Public anger intensified after footage of the incident circulated widely on social media. Beyond the physical assault committed by peers who live in the same neighborhood, victim P was also subjected to severe psychological intimidation by an adult. The parent of one suspect intervened in the dispute and issued a grave verbal threat, declaring they would run the child down using a motorized rickshaw (becak motor).

In response to public concern and the viral video, officers from the Medan Kota Police Department promptly visited the scene.

Medan Kota Police Deputy Chief, AKP Harles Ritcher Gultom, provided an official statement at the location regarding the motive and the threats:

“The victim and the suspects are neighbors. The assault began with a verbal argument after words were said that offended one of the parties. Furthermore, a parent of one suspect threatened the victim, stating that if she went to school, they would run her over using their own motorized rickshaw. As a result, the victim was terrified of going to school and has remained absent to this day.”

Victim’s Family Testimony
Victim P resides with her aunt following her parents’ separation. Her aunt, who was the first to find the child in pain and severe trauma, recalled the heartbreaking moment the victim opened up to her:

“She came to me complaining that her body was in pain. I noticed she refused to go to school. When questioned, P admitted she was terrified to attend school because the suspects had threatened her. I then went to the school myself to inform them that she had been assaulted and could not attend.”

Recognizing the victim’s severe psychological trauma and physical distress, personnel from the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) along with Medan Kota Police Crime Investigation Unit Head, Iptu P. M. Tambunan, guided and accompanied the family to file an official police report on Monday, September 28, 2026.
