​JAMBI,bhayaksa.net-Three repeat offenders specializing in motorcycle theft in Jambi City are back behind bars. The trio was arrested by the Kota Baru Police Criminal Investigation Unit after stealing a resident’s motorcycle in Kenali Asam Bawah Village.

​The incident occurred in the parking lot of a laundry shop on Sunan Drajat Street, RT 01, Kenali Asam Bawah, Kota Baru District, Jambi City, on Friday (Aug 7, 2026) around 11:30 AM local time ago. 

​The victim, 26-year-old Emita Sari, caught the suspects red-handed as they were attempting to steal her Honda BeAT motorcycle. She shouted for help and tried to chase them down, but the suspects briefly managed to flee with her vehicle.

​Kota Baru Police Chief, Police Commissioner Helrawaty Siregar, stated that officers launched a swift investigation immediately after receiving the victim’s report.

​”Upon receiving information regarding the grand theft, our Criminal Investigation officers immediately went to the scene to collect evidence and track down the suspects’ location,” said Commissioner Helrawaty on Sunday (Aug 9, 2026).

​The investigation quickly paid off when police tracked the suspects heading toward the SPBU Mayang Mangurai area in Alam Barajo District.

Officers intercepted the first suspect, SA (25), who was spotted riding the stolen motorcycle.

​Following SA’s arrest, police quickly moved to apprehend his two accomplices, identified as MAA (24) and IS (23).

​Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Inspector Two Bambang Rikhandi, revealed that all three suspects are repeat offenders with extensive criminal records involving motor vehicles.

​”Suspect SA was previously jailed in 2023 for motorcycle theft. MAA was detained in 2024 for vehicle embezzlement, and IS was also locked up in 2024 for motorcycle theft,” Inspector Bambang explained.

​During the heist, SA acted as the executor who stole the victim’s bike, while the other two acted as lookouts on a separate getaway motorcycle.

​The three suspects are currently detained at the Kota Baru Police Station. They face charges under Article 477 of Law No. 1 Year 2023 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP), carrying a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison or a maximum Category V fine of Rp500 million.
