SURABAYA, bhayaksa.net– Great news for Surabaya residents looking for a hassle-free way to pay their vehicle tax. Moving toward the end of August, the Surabaya City Government, in collaboration with the East Java Provincial Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), is actively promoting a more convenient annual tax payment method through their latest innovation: the ATM Samsat QRIS machine.
This self-service kiosk is now accessible to taxpayers at five Regional Technical Implementation Units (UPTB) spread across Surabaya. Through this system, vehicle owners only need to bring their vehicle data and scan a QR code using a digital wallet or mobile banking app.
The Head of the Surabaya City Bapenda, Rachmad Basari, explained that this innovation was introduced to bring public services closer and significantly cut down queue times.
“We are here to provide convenience in vehicle tax payments, facilitated by our colleagues from the East Java Provincial Bapenda for annual tax processing,” said Rachmad Basari in his statement on Friday (August 21, 2026) ago. He added that citizens only need to bring their vehicle registration certificate (STNK) and remember their license plate, engine, and chassis numbers to print the tax validation independently on-site.
In addition to this technological convenience, now is also the perfect time to settle any overdue taxes. The East Java Provincial Government is currently running a Vehicle Tax Amnesty program to commemorate the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
This administrative fine waiver program runs for a full month, from August 1 to August 31, 2026. The policy is intentionally designed as an incentive to ease the public’s financial burden while motivating citizens to stay administrative-compliant with their vehicles.
Rachmad Basari also expressed his highest appreciation to Surabaya residents, as the vehicle tax revenue realization from the previous year successfully exceeded targets. According to him, this achievement stems from high public awareness, noting that the paid tax money will directly return to the community through infrastructure development, road facilities, and free healthcare services.
With the amnesty program ending in just a few days, the public is strongly urged to take immediate advantage of this golden opportunity. You can head straight to the nearest Samsat counter or try the convenient ATM Samsat QRIS machine for a faster, transparent, and middleman-free process.
