MEDAN, bhayaksa.net—- The Medan City Police Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) has launched a decisive crackdown against illicit drug trafficking within the local government apparatus. An active female neighborhood chief, identified by her initials FAP (41), was apprehended by law enforcement officers for allegedly moonlighting as a drug dealer, peddling ecstasy pills and a new contraband trend known as narcotic vapes (vibrating pods).
Representing the Medan City Police Chief, the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit, AKBP Rafli Yusuf Nugraha, S.H., S.I.K., M.I.P., confirmed that the suspect was caught red-handed by personnel from Team 4 Sub-unit II Unit I on Saturday afternoon, August 29, 2026. The neighborhood chief was ambushed by officers inside a convenience store located on Brigjen Katamso Street, Pantai Burung Alley, Medan Maimun District, Medan.
“FAP’s arrest was initiated by credible tips from local residents who grew suspicious of drug trafficking activities in the neighborhood. Acting upon that intelligence, our tactical team immediately conducted a deep investigation and intensive surveillance on the ground,” AKBP Rafli Yusuf Nugraha stated during an official press briefing on Friday, September 4, 2026.
AKBP Rafli explained that officers moved in for the bust while the suspect was inside a convenience store near her residence. FAP deliberately utilized the public space for her routine transactions to evade suspicion from local onlookers.
During a search conducted at the crime scene on the day of the arrest, officers successfully recovered physical evidence, including two narcotic vape devices (vibrating pods) under the “El Chapo” brand name which contained psychotropic liquid, alongside two ready-to-sell ecstasy pills.
Based on preliminary interrogations at the Medan City Police Headquarters, the female neighborhood chief could not deny the allegations and confessed to all her actions. FAP admitted that she had been running the illicit drug distribution business in the Pantai Burung area for approximately the past two months.
To account for her crimes, FAP is currently detained alongside all physical evidence at the Medan City Police Headquarters. The suspect faces charges under Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, which carries a penalty of over five years in prison. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation to dismantle the primary supply chain of the illicit vape pods.
