AMBON, bhayaksa.net – In a firm effort to curb drug trafficking and illicit substance abuse, the Maluku Regional Police (Polda Maluku) launched the opening day of Operation Antik Salawaku 2026 by conducting targeted raids across key nightlife venues in Ambon City.
The large-scale joint operation brought together a multi-agency task force comprising the Maluku Police Narcotics Unit, Military Police (POM TNI), National Narcotics Agency of Maluku Province (BNNP Maluku), and the Regional Customs and Excise Office (Bea Cukai Maluku).
Two Popular Nightclubs Inspected
The joint task force focused its inspection on two prominent entertainment venues in the city: Golden Place Karaoke & PUB and Dragon Karaoke & PUB.
Officers performed comprehensive checks on site, including identity verification, body searches, and selective urine drug testing. The inspection targeted venue patrons, song hosts, and performing disc jockeys (DJs).
Zero Positive Cases Recorded
Following on-site drug testing of the collected urine samples, authorities confirmed that no traces of narcotics or psychotropic substances were detected in any of the individuals tested.
Director of Narcotics Investigation at Maluku Police, Police Grand Commissioner (Kombes Pol) Indra Gunawan, who serves as the Operational Head for Operation Antik Salawaku 2026, emphasized the importance of maintaining strong oversight despite the clean outcome.
“Operation Antik Salawaku 2026 is a concrete step by the Maluku Regional Police to narrow the operational space for illicit drug trafficking networks. Tonight’s inspection results show that everyone tested was negative for drugs. However, our monitoring will continue on an ongoing basis,” Kombes Pol Indra Gunawan stated.
He added that the operation extends beyond law enforcement to encourage compliance among venue management and boost public awareness regarding the dangers of illegal drugs.
“We prioritize professional, measured, and humane law enforcement. Our synergy with POM TNI, BNN, and Customs will be continuously strengthened so drug networks find no room to operate in Maluku,” he added.
Police Urge Active Public Collaboration
Echoing similar sentiments, Head of Public Relations at Maluku Police, Police Grand Commissioner (Kombes Pol) Rositah Umasugi, commended the negative test results while warning against complacency.
“The negative results obtained in this inspection deserve appreciation, but they must not cause us to let our guard down. Maluku Police will continue conducting Operation Antik Salawaku 2026 intensively and sustainably as part of the police force’s commitment to protecting the community from drug threats,” Kombes Pol Rositah Umasugi noted.
She also encouraged citizens to actively participate in drug eradication efforts by reporting any suspected drug misuse or trafficking in their respective neighborhoods.
Maluku Regional Police assured that Operation Antik Salawaku 2026 will persist routinely, targeting various potential high-risk locations across the region.
