JAKARTA,bhayaksa.net— An inspiring young figure has emerged from the nation’s capital. Neysa Putri Khairani (19), a freshman dentistry student at Yarsi University, Central Jakarta, demonstrates that age is no barrier to achieving excellence while making a tangible impact on society.
Known affectionately as Ney, the eldest of three siblings from West Jakarta possesses a strong passion for learning and community engagement.
Amidst her academic routines, the sports enthusiast actively works as a freelance model and private tutor for elementary school students.
Ney’s track record of achievement dates back to her Islamic boarding school (pesantren) days, where she consistently maintained a top-six academic ranking for three consecutive years.
Beyond academics, her talents flourished as she secured 2nd Place in a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in 2023 and competed in the 2024 Biology Olympiad.
Her presence on the inspirational stage shone even brighter after winning 1st Runner Up Miss Muslimah Hunt 2026 and Miss Hijab Intelegensia Jakarta 2026.
Mental Health Advocacy: ‘Your Dream, Your Rules’
Refusing to focus solely on personal accolades, Ney leveraged her platform to found LanternSisters, a women’s empowerment community.
Through this initiative, she launched a mental health advocacy movement titled ‘Your Dream, Your Rules’.
The movement stems from her deep concern over the social pressures faced by today’s youth. It centers on protecting mental health, particularly for young women navigating personal development, helping them build resilience against social stigma and negative societal judgments.
Through LanternSisters, Ney runs two primary programs: Perempuan Berbagi (Women Share) and Perempuan Mengajar (Women Teach), creating dedicated spaces for collective growth.
”Comments or judgments from others, especially negative ones, can severely affect our mental health and ultimately hinder our personal growth,” Ney explained regarding her motivation behind the movement, Monday (Aug 10, 2026) ago.
These educational efforts are carried out both online and offline. One concrete action included an outreach session with female students at MA An-Nida Al-Islamy, equipping them to navigate social pressure while remaining bold in pursuing their dreams.
Opportunities and Inspiration for the Youth
Addressing the common trend of young people constantly comparing themselves on social media, Ney emphasizes that mental health education is both crucial and urgent.
However, she acknowledges that public stigma—which often dismisses mental health issues as trivial—remains the greatest challenge.
To overcome this, she highlights the importance of delivering educational material in an engaging, inclusive, and non-judgmental manner.
Ney stresses that her journey so far has been made possible by the unwavering trust and support of her parents, friends, and close circle.
Concluding her message, Ney shared an empowering thought for the younger generation:
“You can listen to the world without letting the world define you.”
She encourages youth not to let external opinions dictate their aspirations, but to keep growing on their own terms and learn courageously from every failure.
