JAKARTA, bhayaksa.net— The National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Dittipidnarkoba Bareskrim Polri) is pushing forward with its investigation into a major inter-island drug syndicate involving the smuggling of 5.4 kilograms of methamphetamine. As of Saturday (9/19/2026), a massive manhunt is underway to capture two primary fugitives on the Most Wanted List (DPO), identified as Daniel Alfian and Haykal Fikri, who are suspected of masterminding the drug pipeline stretching across Jakarta, Surabaya, and Lombok.
The case entered a critical phase following the arrest of a courier, Sayed Zuwanda (32), at the Jamrud Ro-Ro Terminal in Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya. During the joint operation, authorities uncovered five packages of methamphetamine, weighing exactly 5,418.10 grams, tightly packed and concealed inside the spare tire of a rented Toyota Kijang Innova. The seized narcotics, valued at nearly 1 billion IDR, could have potentially endangered over 27,000 lives.
The investigation took a significant turn when authorities discovered that the courier was operating under the direct orders of an active inmate at the Surabaya Class I Prison (Medaeng), named Andreansyah, also known as Bang Andrian. Following coordination with Bareskrim, prison guards launched a sudden raid on the cell block and successfully confiscated an illegal mobile device used by Andreansyah to manage the smuggling operations from behind bars.
Federal investigators have confirmed that all suspects involved face multiple severe charges under Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics. Because the total weight of the seized methamphetamine far exceeds the 5-gram threshold for aggravated offenses, both the field courier and the prison mastermind face the maximum statutory penalty under Indonesian law, which includes the death penalty or life imprisonment, alongside a maximum fine of 10 billion IDR.
Currently, the suspect and all physical evidence, including the narcotics, communication devices, and the vehicle, are secured at the Bareskrim Polri headquarters in Jakarta. Investigators are finalizing the initial case files for the upcoming prosecution while simultaneously conducting asset tracing on the syndicate’s bank accounts to completely freeze their financial network.
